2010 is just around the corner

Hi, there! How are you today?
After 15 minutes, 2010 will be started in Japan. Thank you so very much everyone for all your encourage comments you left me here in this year.
We all now are faced with various crisis - the global recession, environment problems, the Pandemic Influenza and so on.
But PLEASE have a new year! I hope 2010 will be a wonderful year for you and your family!

Love, Tomo

A bit for sharing.
This is the one of the cards which I made for the children at the homes for orphans. Made five similar cards. Because, I needed them to be with the Christmas cakes and gifts.

And this is a close up.
Used Tsukineko's embossing powder, 'Gold Pearl' for the tree on the light blue paper. This powder can get a little transparent effect. Can't you see the tree like pale yellow green color? Sorry, I could't take this pic well. :(
I changed the sentiment from 'Season's Greetings' - it's general in Western countries - to 'Winter Greetings'. Because the Japanese children almost don't recognize this 'Season' means 'which season in four seasons', even if they study English. Probably it comes from the difference of culture, I guess.

Stamp used:
HA Clear Design Let It Snow / CL233
Penny Black and Stampendous stamps

Supplies:
Bazzill Basics CS, Basic Grey PP,
Tsukineko embossing powder, Tim Holtz Grunge sheet, ribbon, button

Simple designed Christmas card

Hi, everyone!
Now I made time to post! :)
This time, I introduce you a simple Christmas card that was made and already shipped in last week. I didn't make enough time for making them in this October and November. So I don't know whether these will be in time before Dec. 25th or not. :( God knows! - I haven't ever send them to abroad in December.

Made three cards of the same design.
This is really a simple designed card to use Hero Arts Sparkle Clear 'Merry Christmas', 'Antique Flower Background' stamps and scalloped die-cutted paper. But I needed more time than I supposed to.

And this is a closeup.
I drew the edge of the scalopped paper with VersaMarker and heat-embossed with pearl embossing powder. Added some gemstones, the dew drops to use Diamond Glaze by Judikins and Making Memories' star brad for the tree decorations.

supplies:
HA Antique Flower Background / S5264
HA Sparkle Clear Merry Christmas / CL364
and some materials for the decoration.

Thanks for peeking!
Have a beautiful week! :)

Season's Greetings to you all

Hi, there!
First of all, I want to express my appreciations to you all, the visitors for your very kind words for my recent posts. Thank you so very much!
I know well that I should visit all of your blogs or photo pools, and I truly want to see your fabulous works as soon as possible. But I can't now.
So I made the digital graphic for all of you to use the flower arrangement, made by myself.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season! :)

This is the whole look of the arrangement part.
Made this to use preserved flowers, tree branches, nuts, moss, seed beads, crystal beads, pearls, and ribbons.

Talking about myself, I/we sometimes go the places where the bad connection of internet near the high mountain areas or seashores within this country or other near foreign Asian countries to take films for the TV-movies from this autumn, I was so worried about the condition of my father before I decided to put these works in my schedule though. But he told me, "I will not get well. After a few years, I will need more your help." - His both eyes have only half range of vision by his disease about a decade ago.
So, when I'm out, I employ the person to help him, but when I come back and stay at home, I have many things for house keeping, taking care of my father, and have to work to manage the web sites that I made or renewed.
It's really tight for me, but seeing the films on air makes me so happy, 'cause joining them is for the first time in about three years. I will be able to take the winter holidays from this weekend to Dec. 30th, 31st will for working to update the pages of several web sites, and maybe I will take the holidays again from the new year's day.

I will post here cards or something in this year again. See ya!
Once again, thank you so very much to you all, the visitors for your very kind words!

Thanks for looking and reading!
Love, Tomo

Thanks card & hello card

Hi, there!
This is the post of card making!

Just finished two cards to use paper piecing technique. I couldn't join the paperpiecing challenge at Hero Arts, maybe about a month ago.
I found this is so interesting!!! after I did this technique. :) I want to make some cards in the near future.

This is the result.
Made this card for my aunt, always think about me. I met her at my mother's ceremony last month. Yes, she's an elder sister of my mother.
I'm going to send this to her with a book and a bobbin lace bookmark which I'm now making.

And this is a closeup.
This is the first time to use this 'Flower Box' cling stamp.

And the other is to use vibrant colors for one of my Japanese virtual friends.
I usually have actual meet after we met on internet, and I have 52 friends - the half is the Japanese and the other half is the foreigners - in the world, we could have the opportunities.
She is really lovely lady and one of my good friend, but she has been sick already when we met about 6 years ago. We usually contact using e-mails or snail mails. I made this one to cheer her up.
I used the bird stamp- this is my favorite- with the cling 'Flower Box'.

HA Cling Flower Box / CG127

- a thousand winds -

Hi,
This is really a personal blogging...
10 days ago,  two years has just passed since my mother passed away. I went the place my mother has been sleeping on the day by myself again. We, family and relatives held the memorial ceremony on Nov. 8th. - we usually hold it before the anniversary day in Japan.

I sometimes go there (her grave) by myself, when I want to talk with her. Of course, I know she is not there.
And I always remind of the song, 'a thousand winds'. My mother told me the Japanese lyrics of this song about a year before her death, despite I told her English lyrics approximately 20 years ago.

'a thousand winds'
- Author Unknown -

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumun's rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

I has been spending sad days for a while. But I'm okay!
Thanks so much, my friends!

Christmas tree tags

Hi, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
I have a little bit post tonight.
It seems that the theme of Hero Arts' this week's challenge is making tag. - I just accessed their blog for the first time in about 3 weeks. I didn't make time for it and for peeking Frickr pool at all.
And, SO MANY THANKS and APOLOGIZE to you, the visitors and friends for your kind words and e-mails <3, despite I didn't update this blog at all.

The Christmas tree tags I intoroduce you today is not for HA challenge. (There's a tag I used HA sentiment stamp at the back side though.)
These had been creating since about two weeks ago, and I finally finished them recently and shipped to some of my friends with gift or thanks card.

Sorry, this is not a good photo. :(
Used the same stamp and made same layering, but I did them different materials for each. From the left, the vintage look (like Victorian), a little aged look, and the modern look. I changed the kind of inks, embelishments, and glittered glues for the receivers.
All the coloring for the trees is several Perfect Pearls. And then, I added the glittered glue on it.

supplies: Stampington Company stamp etc.

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a beautiful day! :)

3 cards! (Glass Baubles again!)

Hi, everyone!
I made many cards today. Because I have to rush to make many Christmas cards to mail them soon. I sent part of them already, but I need more...
So I tried to make them taking on Hero Arts 'simpleholiday' challenge, this week.

Well, I introduce you another design card. This would be the last design today, I've thought about a few similar designs in another colors and styles already though. I have no power to continue...

Here are the cards.
I also have got some inspirations from my previous card, '6" x 6" card - Season's Greetings'. Again, the Glass Baubles design! Ha.
This time I made these Antique Brocade Cling stamp for the baubles. The base cards are HA Kraft notecards.

And this is a closeup of one of the cards.
It took about 20 minutes per a card. So I could finish them. :)

stamp used:
HA Sparkle Clear Merry Christmas / CL364
HA Cling Antique Brocade / CL102
HA Big Pine Bough / K5242

other supplies:

6" x 6" card - Season's Greetings (Baubles)

Hi, evereyone!
Finished to make one more card! This was a big one and also for Hero Arts 'simpleholiday' challenge.
Actually, I had a small inspiration for this card when I made the bauble shaped slider cards in this early morning. So I tried it.

Here is my result.
Used the Elegant Brocade and the Antique Flower Background stamps like decoration patterns and a metallic part of the big bauble. The color of the suede tape is kahki green. So this has a little traditional Chiristmas colors.

Here is an another angle photo.
The center strip in a small bauble was a left over paper which the Antique Flower Background was stamped. And the vellum in a big bauble was also a scrap left.
I just diecutted the baubles and did distress inking, embossing, and layering. After that, I put some embelishiments or ribbonon, and two stitching lines on it. So it took me about in 20 minutes or so.

stamp used:
HA Design Block Antique Flower Background / S5264
HA Elegant Brocade / F5243
HA Clear Design Holiday Cheer / CL359
Technique Tuesday stamp

other supplies:

Simple and flat Christmas card

Hi, there!
I just made one more design for Hero Arts 'simpleholiday' challenge to use very popular Sparkle Clear 'Merry Christmas' stamp among us, HA fans.
But this is the first time that I used it.
While looking at the stamp, I hit upon this design.

Here is the card.
This is just a simple and flat card.
The coloring for tree and the row of snowmen are color pencils, blending with copic colorless blender on the stamped image to use oil based stamp ink. I also put Fun Flock and Distress stickles for the snow.

stamp used:
HA Sparkle Clear Merry Christmas / CL364
HA Clear Design Holiday Cheer/ CL359 (partly use)
Lizzie Anne designs stamp

other supplies:
American crafts + letter papers (Domestic)
Tsukineko VersaFine / Onyx Black, Spanish Moss
Ranger Stitckles / Distress Picket Fence

Christmas Bouble slider cards (スライダー・カード)

Hi, there!
Made these quicky cards for Hero Arts 'simpleholiday' challenge.
I went out from Thursday and came home Sunday evening yesterday. So I tried to make these for it. It's Monday morning (midnight) here.

Here are my cards, 'Christmas Bauble slider cards'.

and the pic of  the slider card open.

Sorry the photos above weren't in good condition.
All the colorings into the stamp images are copics. The snow hills were drawned by the dark brown marker and put Fun Flock by Stampendous.
It took me in an hour (approximately 50 minutes) to finish these three cards. I enjoyed making them! :)

Season's Greetings (paper tearing)

Hi, everyone!
Finally I finished a card for Hero Art's 'Papertearing' challenge this week (October 19th - October 25th). Actually I made a card for HA challenge for the first time in about a couple of weeks.

Originally I'm not good at taking torn paper into the cards. Especially, it's difficult for me to combine it with Hero Arts stamp images. But I made this to use vellum paper and masking tapes made by Japanese Washi paper, since I could get some imaginations from the articles on HA blog.

Here is my card, 'Season's Greetings (paper tearing)'.

And this is a closeup.
*The coloring on vellum are all copics.
While looking these photo, I'm think about whether the blue masking tape is needed or not. There was one more blue masking tape on a diagonal line, and I changed it to the circle shaped die cut, the star image was heat-embossed. I was better that I changed it to lighter color, or took off both, maybe... (???)
Anyway, what I'm convinced is 'I need the time quite a while for thinking about the finished work.' :(

stamp used:
HA Clear Design Holiday Cheer/ CL359
HA Collage Season's Greetings / K4827
HA Design Blocks Moddern Lines / S5218

a card for Card Patterns #37

Hi, everyone!
I've been spending busy days. BUT!!!
But today is Saturday here, and it's been about two weeks and finally enjoying my weekend holidays. I played on the internet after I came home at midnight yesterday from biz-trip.

And happened to know this sketch at Card Patterns #37 . I was so interested in it! Because I haven't ever made any card like this design.
So I started to think about a few design for the card soon. This was literary a challenge for me, and also my first attempt to send my card to Card Patterns.

Here is my result. I used Coluzzle oval template to cut the shape.

And this is a closeup view.

*Used several Perfect Pearls for the tree.
And I also submitted this to 2Peas 'SOF09 - Earth Challenge' hosted by Suzz (aka stampersuzz) on Oct 25th.

Tule lace doiry (2) -

 んん~? 終わりは近いようで遠い!かな? 昨夜は少し飛ばして、只今第3コーナーの中間といった所です。第3コーナーを全部完了させれば良かったのですが、眠たくって眠たくって・・。「途中で止めたら大変な事になる!」の思いが半分、しかし、睡魔の方が勝ってしまい、ZZZ・・・。 それで、この写真は、第2コーナーを回ったあたりです。 ^^;

Hi, there!
I've been spending busy time every day since October began. I can hardly make time for paper crafting. Because I have many biz-trips to move using public transportation - mainly airplanes and trains. Escaping the messy inks etc. is necessary.  So I enjoy needleworks or knitting while moving. And after coming home, I continue to knit the bobbin lace doiry. But even if I make time for it, it's only about 10 - 15 minutes per day. *sigh* :(
In these days, I long for the days I can do paper crafting...

ATC 'Noel'

Hi, everyone! I have one more post today.
Yesterday night, yes actually in this early morning, I finished this ATC to use acrylic paint resist technique to join 'HeroArtsATC' challenge.

Here is my ATC 'Noel'.

Used Faded Jeans and several distress inks with blending foam on white cardstock for the background. And the trees coloring is several Perfect Pearls.

ATC '2009 First Snow'

Hi, everyone!,
I'm going to post this to join 'HeroArtsATC' challenge this week.

Here is my ATC, '2009 First Snow'.
Actually I made this ATC #1 of 3 soon after this snowman stamp was delivered. I SO love this cute snowman stamp! I made the same 3 ATCs then. (Both #2 of 3 and #3 of 3 are now at one of my friends and my clients.

Made these 3 cards to get the imagination by this snowman, that is ... He is so glad to find the small first snow (this is the smiley at the bottom right), and they thinks 'my friend' each other and they are smiling.
I colored the knitted cap with Christmas illumination to have the nuance of one of the traditional Fair Isle knitting patterns. Love his knitting-wears, too! I'm curious to knit something. It comes to be colder little by little.

*The coloring of the snowman is the way to use several Liquied Pearls and Dimentional Pearls with water medium.

a hybrid card, 'Holiday Cheer'

Hi, everyone!
I just finished this hybrid card and going to join Hero Arts 'photocard' challenge this week. Strictly speaking..., I could solve one of my troubles that I 've been thiking and thinking... by getting imagination from the theme of the challenge.

My summer holidays will be over and I'll start my work at the 1st or 2nd week of this October. I have many biz trips from next month.
Under such situations, what annoy me most is how I make 70 or more invitation cards to send whom volunteered for the Universiade that was held in our city in 1995. I worked at the press center and sometimes volunteered at the Athletes' Village then.
After the Universiade, we, some of volunteers met once here (near the christmas tree in the photo) at the millennium countdown, and promised to meet 10 years later. It'll be 10 yrs in this December.
- Fortunately I got an idea by HA this week's challenge, and started making super easy way to make many cards for both season's greetings and invitation for the reunion from this morning.

This is the card, 'Holiday Cheer and reunion invitation'.
This photo was taken in 1999. I rememberd so well that I took this pic over 11:00 PM. Because there were many peoples near the tree in day time or evening. 'Cos this electric christmas tree were at the passage way of an department store, renewed at the year. The tree was also its first revealing. And our city hall stands near by. So here is always a busy street, one of my favorite places in our city.

This is from another angle.
This photo doesn't have high resolution, 'cos this was taken 10 years ago. So I decided to make a little aged look card. So I changed the resolution of Digi data from 300 dpi to 150 dpi. I was so glad to find the HA Digi-Kit - HA Dictionary Page at 2 Peas. It has a brush of definition, 'Communicate' in the kit. :)

I'm going to put these parts together at the hotels where I stay by biz trips and gonna send them till the middle of this November. Really really glad that I could solve my trouble! :)

Giveaway! :)

Hi, everyone! Are you enjoying your weekend?
I've been hoping to carry out this giveaway since this January. But I couldn't take enough time for it, because I've been very busy in house keeping, my business, and taking care of my parent. Fortunately, I'm now in the rest of my summer holidays, so finally I could do this! Yay!
This giveaway is for the celebration of my personal website, the Graphideart's count was over 100,000 views, and also this blog's was over 5,000 such a long time ago. So I wanted to express my appreciations to you all.
We are used to do the count-over present at the time when it is over 5,000, 10,000, 30,000, 50,000, 100,000, and 200,000... in Japan. In many case, we do it for the counter on home (top page) of the personal website. But I haven't ever seen over 200,000 celebration yet. Can I continue it?
Recently the population to use weblog is increasing here.

Well, I prepare 3 prizes. Please join, if there are some goodies you are interested in. Everyone is welcome! :)

Here is the details and the rules to entry.
  • I ship the prizes internationally to any other countries where the Japan Post accepts. - We can ship it almost of the countries in the world.
  • You can entry all 3 prizes (prize no.1, 2 and 3. ), there's no limitation - Just only, 1 person to 1 entry into the one prize is accepted.
I rewrote this part (right above) to avoid misunderstandings as follows :
Just only...1 person, entrying once for each prize is accepted.- twice or more 'entries' for a prize to raise the possibility to be a prizewinner is not accepted.
    - I'm so sorry, my explanation was not good!-
  • But if you are the lucky person, one person never gets 2 or 3 prizes. 3 persons will be selected.
The winners will be selected by random drawing. And it starts Prize no.1, no.2 is the next, and no.3 is the last.
For example: If you aren't interested in prize no.1 and you're interested in 2 and/or 3, I think it's appropriate to entry no.2 and/or no.3. In the case, if you entried all of these, and if you won the no.1 prize by drawing, there's no possibility to win no.2 or no3 prize.
  • The deadline of this giveaway entry is at 11:59PM GMT(Greenwich Mean Time) on September 30th, 2009. And the winners will be announced on October 1st, 2009 here through this blog.
Please entry into the prize(s) which you want to get and write a short comment there (on 'each prize post' that I made).
-Shoter message is better. Thanks for your understandings. :)
The links for entry: Prize no.1 is here, 2 is here, and 3 is here. Or scroll down, please!

**Anonymous post is also welcome. But writing your handle or your name at the 1st line in a comment field is needed.

And if you have a question about this event, please feel free to write your comment here in English or Japanese.

I'm looking forward to your entries.

Have a beautiful weekend, everyone!

Lucky me!

OMgosh! My 'Happy Fall' card was recognized as Hornable Mention at 'Fall Color Challenge' on September 17th, held by Hero Arts.
That entry was for the first time in about a month, because I was sick again... My brain wasn't clear at that time, but I began to make it since the fall color combos on HA blog inspired me a lot. So this result made me very happy.
And thank you so much everyone for your kind words concerning about my health!

Thanks for reading!

A card for the 1st 'Card Chain Challenge'

Hi, everyone!,
I knew the Card Chain Challenge (CCC) of 'Society of Stamp & Scrap-aholics'
3 days ago. I entried it a few hours before the deadline, and finished a card yesterday night.
This brandnew challenge is hosted by dearest Deborah. You can see the details and rules of it from here.
The participants make a card and send it to the other participant. So everybody gets a card from someone! Wonderful planning! She is so clever!

Here is the card, 'Fall is in the air'.
I made this one to get an imagination from both my 'happy fall' card which I made it on Sep. 12th and the color scheme that Deborah was made. I love this color combo so much.
I changed to make this to bright colors taking on the color scheme.
To send this to abroad, I used 1/16" thick foam adhesives and die-cutted idea-ology grungesheet alphabets (I used 1/8" thick foam and the grungeboard letters for my 'happy fall' card.)
To tell you the truth, the previous card was too thick and it's too hard to put into the HA envelope.

This is a closeup.

and one more closeup taken from another angle.

Can you see the Perfect Pearls on the veins of a leaf?
The results using Perfect Pearls (Mica Powder) is really beautiful! I love it! But it's TOO difficult to take picture...

'Thanks a bunch' card (Tuesday color)

Hello, everyone! I finished one more card today for Hero Arts 'fall color challenge'. The Tuesday color scheme was most difficult to me, I thought. So I tried to make it.

http://coliss.com/articles/build-websites/operation/design/most-popular-color-for-autumn-2009.html

(* for foreigners:
The link just above is a summary page written in Japanese just like combined the 2 sites introduced on HA blog on Sep. 9th. I just linked it for the Japanese.)

Here is the result.
It looks like this card says, "Pick these flowers, and make a flower bunch yourself, please!".
This strange English and my thought can tell you what I mean??? ;)

This is a closeup.
I used Perfect Pearls 'Pearl' on Broken China Distress ink, and 'Heirlooom Gold' on Antique Linen ink.
Sorry I couldn't  show you the actual results well by my poor photo technique.

'Happy Fall' card (Wednesday color)

Hi, there!
I made a card for the first time in about a month, 'cos I've been sick. I've been having a slight fever yet, but felt quite good yesterday, so I tried to make it for Hero Arts 'fallcolors' challenge.
Thank you so very much everyone for your concern! All your gentle words cheered me up a lot. I so APPRECIATE YOU! <3

Here is the card, 'Happy Fall'.
Made this card to use my favorite real leaves stamps. I used to use these maple and oak in autumn season since I got these sets.
Put a bit of distress stickles on the grungeboad 4 letters.
(I just knew the digital Real leaves named 'DigiKit - HA Foliage' were released at the 2 Peas.)

And, we had our typical autumn rain all day long yesterday. And the temperature came down to 19 in centigrade in midnight! We had over 31C in the afternoon the day before yesterday!!! Amazing! Fall is in the air? The leaves will be fallin' and the colors will be changing soon? The natural phenomenon gave me a hint that I should to express some raindrops to use Glossy Accents.

Tag for my friend (Stampers Anonymous)

Hi! I have one more post today.
Made this tag for one of my needlework friends, Ms. N on last Saturday. She e-mailed me to receive this today. So I wanted to share you.
I didn't know whether she likes grungy look or not. So I made this to use pretty colors. Mainly blended the Distress Inks and added to spray the Perfect Pearl mist for the background.
The birds was colored with Liquid Pearls (with water medium) after stamped with an acrylic dabber.
All the stamps are Stampers Anonymous. And the metals and the grungeboard are Tim Holtz, idea-ology.
Thanks for looking!

Tule lace doily (1) -

Hello, there!
I posted one more bobbin lace work today, 'cos the Japanese friends of mine are maybe waiting to resume my works related on needleworks.

I'm knitting (weaving) this tule lace small doily. Actually this is now interrupted by an asthma. I began this after finishing the sampler shared you on Sep. 8th. I don't feel bad now and I want to continue to knit, but I have a slight fever even now. I have to control myself to resume it.

Thanks for looking! :)
Hi, everyone!
I want to express my appreciation to you!
Thank you so very much for your concern about my sick! and all your kind words!!! All your words really reassured me a lot. I so appreciate you taking the time.
I think I want to visit all your blogs or Flickr pages in a few days. Just give me some time.

Love, Tomo

Terrible summer and an asthma

Hi, there!

I came back on my blog, but oh wow, today is September 8th! I'm very very sorry I couldn't visit any blogs, websites or Flickr pages for a couple of weeks.
I had an asthma attack around 20th August, and it was slightly then. But it hasn't been improved, and I came to have any other symptoms (caught cold by air conditioners. - I was so stupid. All the rooms in my house were well air‐conditioned, 'cause it was intense heat of summer outside and I had feverish. But the rooms were TOO COLD! I had CHILLS!) besides an asthma.
I've been a patient for about one and a half years. I thought it caused by the mental shock of my mother's death and my living environment was changed significantly. But I have sometimes slight symptoms even now. I have this kinds of DNA? Oh No!
I'm in recovery, I have a cough though.
I make it a rule to think positively, 'it improves than the last year'. I had fatigue fractures 4 times by the persistent coughs in 2008. And actually I had many stresses in this summer - natural disasters of flood and earthquakes, and diseases of my father's and mine. To tell you the truth, I've been so scary of fractures this times...

Today I had no photo related on paper crafts. So I introduce my bobbin lace.

I made this for the first time in about a year. This was a tule lace (point ground lace) sampler for practicing which I made in middle of last month.
The bobbin folder is stamped the Hero Arts 'Heart Flower Blossomes' stamp. Haha.
I made 2 more folders last year. I love its antique look. <3

Thank you for peeking! :)
