- a thousand winds -

This is really a personal blogging...
10 days ago,  two years has just passed since my mother passed away. I went the place my mother has been sleeping on the day by myself again. We, family and relatives held the memorial ceremony on Nov. 8th. - we usually hold it before the anniversary day in Japan.

I sometimes go there (her grave) by myself, when I want to talk with her. Of course, I know she is not there.
And I always remind of the song, 'a thousand winds'. My mother told me the Japanese lyrics of this song about a year before her death, despite I told her English lyrics approximately 20 years ago.

'a thousand winds'
- Author Unknown -

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumun's rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

I has been spending sad days for a while. But I'm okay!
Thanks so much, my friends!

  1. Tomo. What a beautiful song. I think it is just a wonderful sentiment... My niece read this out at my sister in laws funeral earlier this year. It is a sad time to remember your Mum but sometimes is just nice to go a pay your respects. Don't be too sad thoughts are with you. Hugs Dawn

  2. What a beautiful poem to share with your mother. I'm sure she heard your voice. Thank you for sharing....

  3. Dawn and Donna, thank you so much for your gentle words!
    A little bit tough time I had again, but I'm all right.
    (I couldn't write or read this poem last year. But I could do. I found I get over the loss of my mother little by little.)

    Dawn, I reminded of the incident, your sister in laws passed away. Did your niece read this poem out for her mother? Oh.. God bless you, your family and her family!

    I so appreciate you, Dawn and Donna!
    Love, Tomo

  4. it is such a beautiful poem, Tomo.... I am sure your mother knows that you are still missing her and thinking of her... thank you so much for sharing.

  5. My eyes got all well up just by reading the poem. I don't think anyone will ever "get over" the passing of our loved ones, but one day at a time, we can only cope better. My thoughts are with you, Tomo! You Mom is always with you...not physically, but she IS with you :)

  6. So sad for the loss of your Mom, Tomo; it's a hard thing. That poem is lovely. Thanks so much for sharing.

  7. Tomo thanks for sharing the beautiful song. Like Virginia I believe that our loved ones will always be with us and hard as it is to believe now, as time passes it becomes easier to cope with such a terrible loss. Your mother would want nothing but happiness for you. My thought are with you Tomo as I know what an awful experience this is. Hugs.
